Social Science course relaunched

Home > News and Events > News - release archive > 2008 > July

Are you looking for access to a social science course at college? Just left school and not sure if you have the right qualifications? Starting in August 2008, Reid Kerr College is relaunching the NC Access to Social Sciences course. Students studying this programme will be introduced to a full and comprehensive qualification that focuses on a wide range of the key social science subjects such as psychology, politics, sociology and history.

Successful completion of this course can lead directly onto the Higher National Certificate (HNC), giving students progression onto employment or the option to continue onto degree programmes at university. Former Reid Kerr Social Science student Aiden Marsh, 19, from Neilston, enrolled at Reid Kerr College for the NC Access course and the HNC a year later, with the aim of reaching university. Following his studies at college, he now begins a degree in Social Sciences later this year. He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my two years at Reid Kerr College and both programmes have provided me with the introduction, preparation and progression I needed to take on my first year of a degree at university."

The NC is available to study full-time for one year and there is an option to take the course day-release. For more information, you can speak to a Student Services advisor by calling free on 0800 052 7343, or log on to the Reid Kerr website.
