Senior quality advisor and award winning student David Grant has been working on the quality of his own personal development recently and has completed a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Quality at Reid Kerr college in Paisley. David, 34 from Cardross, currently works for Babcock Marine a strategic UK provider of engineering and support services to the Royal Navy and is based at HMNB Clyde.
Studying part-time to achieve a recognised qualification was important for David and the programme at college provided him with the flexibility to learn without disruption to his personal and working life. He added, "I attended Reid Kerr one evening a week and the college's location just off the motorway was ideal. Within only 2 years, I had completed the HNC and had a terrific learning experience while I was there."
David's education success was recognised at the college's annual graduation in the Paisley Abbey. Not only did he graduate with the HNC at this prestigious ceremony, he was also named as the winner of the enginering Hammermen Award for his commitment to his studies.
Candidates studying for the HNC at Reid Kerr can use their HNC qualification to help fulfil some of the academic requirements for membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) who provide the support and learning to improve businesses.
Jim Hamilton, senior lecturer in engineering at Reid Kerr said, "The HNC Quality programme at Reid Kerr has been very successful for a number of years with candidates coming from many different sectors of industry including manufacturing and services. Candidates have commented that the learning they receive is relative to their job function and that their "on the job" performance improves along with their confidence and commitment to their careers."
The HNC Quality course is available to study part-time in the evening. For more information call FREE to speak to a Student Services Adviser on 0800 052 7343 or log on to the Reid Kerr website
