A giant green, man-eating plant lands at Paisley Grammar School tonight when 40 children take to the boards for the school's production of the Little Shop of Horrors. The show stars Elizabeth Taylor as the Voice of the Planet (but not the Elizabeth Taylor).
The doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 concessions, available from the school. The production runs till Friday 20 June.
Andrew Dickie, Paisley Grammar’s principal teacher of music, said, "The pupils have been working extremely hard on the show since last September. The team work has been excellent. The show is a joint effort from everyone in the school and the local community. The technical department has been involved along with the art, music, English and food technology and textiles departments.
"We've also had a lot of support from former pupils who run FE Live Audio. They’ve done the sound and lighting and all the graphic design. They've also designed t-shirts and flyers. It's a great show with some fantastic songs."
Councillor Lorraine Cameron, convener of education and leisure services, said, "It's wonderful to see one of our schools putting together such a professional production. This has truly been a team effort which has involved the whole school and it is a credit to everyone."
Little Shop of Horrors is a musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a nerdy florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood.
