Example of entitlement card for young people

Young people across Renfrewshire are being encouraged to take advantage of a new Scotland-wide concessionary travel scheme which started on 8 January 2007.

The scheme gives young people one third off rail and bus fares for all journeys across Scotland.
The scheme is open to all young people living in Scotland who are:

Transport Minister Tavish Scott MSP said, "This travel scheme opens up new opportunities and gives greater freedom to young people through access to work, education and social events".

How do you get these discounts - and the chance to win an Ipod?

To get these discounts, apply for a National Entitlement Card. If you apply by 31 March 2007, you'll be entered in a prize draw to win one of the five Ipods we have to give away.

If you're at school, you'll receive a leaflet and application form and will be offered the opportunity to come along to a special session in school, where your application will be checked and sent off to be processed.

If you're not at school, you can pick up an application form at any library. Library staff will check your application before sending it off for processing.

You will find contact details and opening times for all of Renfrewshire's libraries by following this link.

Your new card will be 'PASS' approved, which means that you can use it to prove your age when you need it. When you take your application form to be checked you'll need to provide: Further information about what you can use as proof, and how the scheme works, is available from Transport Scotland, from the libraries listed above and from this phone line: 0808 801 0338.
