Tobacco policy

Renfrewshire Council's tobacco policy was implemented on 1 January 2005. The policy was developed to help improve the health of employees and service users.
The main points of the policy are:
- No smoking is allowed in any public building owned by the council. This means that no smoking is allowed in offices, car parks or entrances to buildings.
- Employees are not allowed to smoke whilst they are on council business. This includes whilst they are visiting clients in their homes.
The policy also has an impact on the public as there is no smoking allowed in town halls, community halls or other community venues. Non-residential clients and visitors to social work establishments (for example, drop in centres, residential homes, day-care centres) are not be able to smoke whilst they are on the premises.
Thank you for your co-operation in supporting this policy. If you would like to comment on the policy, please email personnel@renfrewshire.gov.uk.
