A mobile information centre staffed by Council staff and Police offering advice on tackling antisocial behaviour is taking to the road in Renfrewshire.
The mobile centre will visit town centres and local communities across Renfrewshire over the coming months. One of its first appearances will be at Barshaw Gala day on Saturday 24 June.
The launch of the touring mobile centre marks the latest stage of Renfrewshire Community Safety Partnership’s antisocial behaviour strategy.
Councillor Anne Hall, Chair of Renfrewshire Community Safety Partnership, said: “A lot has already been achieved in Renfrewshire in co-ordinating the work of different agencies in preventing and tackling antisocial behaviour.
“A big part of that effort is making it quick and easy for people to get access to information, advice and support which can make a real difference in resolving problems of antisocial behaviour.
“By having representatives go out together into the community in this way we hope to bring services directly to people who will benefit from their assistance.”
Among the agencies represented on the mobile centre will be Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, and Renfrewshire Council through its services such as the neighbourhood wardens, mediation service and the antisocial investigations team.
Strathclyde Police will be co-ordinating the mobile advice service.
Strathclyde Police will be co-ordinating the mobile advice service.
Superintendent Iain Gordon, said: “Strathclyde Police in Renfrewshire are delighted to see the launch of the Inter-agency antisocial behaviour vehicle. We firmly believe that this service will provide the local communities with a one stop shop for information and advice on all antisocial behaviour issues and indeed any other police matters. We anticipate that the success of the project will be accomplished through close partnership working, with the involvement of community wardens, ASIST investigators, environmental services and the communities at the very heart of the day to day operations.
“We would encourage any person who sees this mobile centre out in their local communities to come in and seek advice from the officers and support staff and use the services available.”
