Formally launched in February 2007, the strategy sets out the priorities to achieve financial inclusion in Renfrewshire and provides a clear direction to make sure that a strategic, co-ordinated and planned approach is taken.
It aims to:
- reduce the numbers falling into and currently in debt
- increase the numbers of vulnerable individuals accessing affordable and manageable financial services
- raise the financial knowledge and competencies of individuals in relation to debt
- improve service provision to individuals, particularly those who are susceptible to debt at transitional periods in their life, and
- improve partnership working to strengthen the strategy.
The Strategy has been developed in partnership with Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau, Jobcentre Plus, Reid Kerr College, Renfrewshire Community Health Partnership, Renfrewshire Association for Mental Health, Paisley Law Centre and local housing associations.
