Sparky 19 year-old student Euan Dewar was recently recognised for his success at the Electrical Apprentice of the Year Awards. Studying for an SVQ in electrical installation at Reid Kerr College in Paisley, Euan was delighted to take third place in the first stage of the competition.
Organised annually by the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust, Euan scored top marks in his written work and also had to produce a practical piece of work that he completed well. Andrew Fogarty, senior lecturer in electrical installation at Reid Kerr said, “Euan performed to a very high standard at the competition and he was only a few points from the winning place. Euan’s practical work looked impressive as did all of the entries from the other competitors.”
Euan is currently employed by Oban Electrical Services in his hometown and travels down to study his course on a block release basis at Reid Kerr while staying at local digs. Euan is in his second year of his course and aims to finish his training at college by the end of next year.
