People in Elderslie are being invited to a public meeting in the local Village Hall which will discuss setting up a tenants and residents' association for Elderslie.
Tenant liaison officers from Renfrewshire Council’s Housing Department have organised the meeting which will take place in Elderslie Village Hall on Wednesday January 25 at 7.30pm.
Posters advertising the meeting have been put up in the Village Hall, library and post office in a bid to attract as many people as possible along. Letters are also being sent to all local tenants.
“Renfrewshire Council is committed to consulting with tenants and residents,” said Councillor Iain McMillan, Convener of the Council’s Housing, Environment and Community Safety Policy Board.
“I’d say to people that representing their community can make a big difference. I’d also stress to people who are considering coming along that involvement in a tenants and residents’ association needn’t be a major time commitment.
“You can come to meetings or be part of the committee. The choice is yours and there’s advice and support on making your views count. Hopefully, people in Elderslie will take that opportunity and this meeting is a good way of finding out about what’s involved.”
Council officials held a preliminary meeting last November with Elderslie representatives to assess the interest in setting up a tenants and residents' association for the village.
