Renfrewshire Council is hosting its Annual Children’s Open Day to mark the first day of the Council’s recreational season. A selection of outdoor recreational facilities will be opened up free of charge for children on Saturday 29 April.
Children will be able to play for free on the model railway and fun castle in Barshaw Park, Paisley; the model traffic, bowling, putting and tennis facilities at Robertson Park in Renfrew and the tennis courts in Park Road, Johnstone. All of these outdoor facilities will be available free of charge to children 16 years and under on the day of the opening of the recreational season, between the hours of 1pm and 5pm.
Last year many children took advantage of the free outdoor recreational activities on offer.
Councillor Iain McMillan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Housing, Environment and Community Safety Policy Board, said: “I am delighted that we are hosting another free Children's Open Day throughout some of our most popular parks and recreational areas in Renfrewshire. The day has proved to be popular in previous years and we hope that this year we will see more children come along and enjoy in the fun activities for free.
“The Children’s Open Day is an important day in our recreational calendar, as it not only marks the opening of the recreational season, it is also a great way of encouraging local children to participate in healthy outdoor recreation and leisure pursuits. We want as many children as possible to come along this year and try out activities that they have never tried before, in the hope that they will continue to come back throughout the season.”
Please Note : children need to bring their own equipment for the tennis and pitch and putt.
