Reid Kerr College Students from the HND Computing (Software Development) programme enjoyed work placements in a number of West of Scotland companies. The course prepares students for a career in software development and systems analysis. Students used their computing skills to help develop a number of software projects including website hits and testing software bound for the betting market in the USA.
Course leader, Bill Gallacher said "Our students enjoyed the experience of working with professional software developers and analysts. Its a wonderful thing for their CVs and should help them gain employment in the computing industry when they leave college. We have to thank the companies involved for their co-operation in helping us produce the next generation of Scottish software developers and system analysts."
Jamie Rankine, age 19 from Gallowhill was placed with Fasbet Ltd in Glasgow. He said that "working within the industry brought the course work to life. It’s been a great experience and I would definitely recommend it"
Aazim Javed, age 20 from Glasgow was placed with Assistec Ltd in Glasgow. He said that he "didn't realise that my Java and Visual Basic skills would be so relevant"
Zwelithini Mdluli, age 21 from Glasgow was placed with Houston Kiltmakers in Paisley. He said that "the whole experience was fascinating, it makes me even more determined to get my HND and go into the computing industry."
