Schools in Renfrewshire will play host to a variety of events for pupils to combine celebrations of their own success with St Andrew’s Day.
Among events taking place, pupils from Our Lady of Peace primary and East Fulton primary will be participating in a series of workshops with local musician Carol Laula. One class will produce a song, another will create a dance; both will aim to explore Scottish identity and tradition through the exercise. Performances of the song and dance will take place on the day.
Education minister Hugh Henry said:
“I know that in schools across Scotland the quality of work on display and pupils’ willingness to learn is impressive.
“It’s important that we praise our youngsters and help them celebrate their individual successes – whether that’s passing Higher English, playing a starring role in the school play, scoring the winning goal in a football match or helping out in the local old folks’ home.
“Pupils in Renfrewshire deserve recognition for the great work they are doing and I wish them every success with their celebrations – whether they are taking place on St Andrew’s Day or any other time of year.”
