A new girls football club is being set up in Renfrew. Anyone interested in playing, coaching or volunteering to help is being invited to come along to a trial session this weekend.
The trial session for Renfrew Girls Football Club takes place from noon - 2pm on Sunday 28 January at Renfrew KGV astroturf pitch. Those attending are asked to meet initially at Renfrew High School, Haining Road, Renfrew.
Two girls teams will be set up - under 11’s, for girls born in 1996 or 1997, and under-13’s, for girls born in 1994 or 1995.
Girls who want to take part are asked to wear appropriate footwear for an astro-grass surface and clothing for outdoors.
The trial session has been organised by Peter Gillies, Renfrewshire Council’s SFA Development Officer, said: “There’s a lot of interest from girls in these age groups in getting involved in football.
“Sunday’s launch session is an ideal chance for girls to come along and get in at the start of a new club. Hopefully, some parents will also want to play a part and help with volunteering in the run up to the club playing its first fixtures later this year.”
