Head teacher Sandra Gibson with pupils
"Our staff, parents and pupils are delighted with our new school. The spacious accommodation is fantastic and we have great plans for the future. The after-school clubs we now run each day are particularly popular with pupils".

Sandra Gibson, head teacher

Todholm primary school in Paisley was the first school in our investment programme to welcome pupils through its doors. Previously, Todholm catered only for pupils from primaries one to three, but the new school accommodates pupils up to and including the primary seven stage as well as providing nursery classes for children aged 3 to 5.

Pupils enjoy using the new computer facilities
The teaching accommodation for the primary pupils includes 11 classrooms, specialist rooms for art and music, tutorial rooms, a gymnasium and a study resource area. The purpose-built nursery area has a large playroom, two quiet/therapy rooms, a kitchen, a laundry and associated storage spaces.

All of these facilities are available to the community outwith school hours and can be booked through the council's normal letting procedures.

School dinners in Todholm have been revolutionised with the world's first machine that scans pupils' palms. Pupils no longer have to worry about having no money or long queues at lunchtime now the scanner is in place.

Kids try out the cashless catering system
The cashless catering system uses an infrared light to record the unique vein pattern in each pupil's hand. Once recorded and stored on a computer database, the vein pattern can be used to identify a pupil so that those who are entitled to a meal, free or paid for, can be served without the need for cash.

The system also lets school catering staff know whether a child has any food allergies. Parents can top up their child's account when it is convenient to them and they have more information on what their children are eating.
