Renfrewshire schools reopening dates

All of Renfrewshire Council’s primary and secondary schools reopen on Tuesday August 21 with the exception of some schools where major work has been taking place to build new or refurbish existing schools.
Education bosses have stressed that parents of the schools concerned have already been notified in advance of later dates for the reopening of those schools. The only change is at Gryffe High where final health and safety checks after a £6million refurbishment have meant that the school will not now reopen on Friday August 24 as planned. Pupils are now being asked to return on Tuesday August 28.
Councillor Lorraine Cameron, convener of Renfrewshire council’s education policy board, said: “Where we knew that we needed some extra time to sign off some of the major capital investment that is taking place in our schools, we’ve given parents as much notice as possible and have met all those schedules.
“The one change to the previously announced return dates is at Gryffe High where we’ve had to allow an extra couple of days to enable final health and safety checks to be carried out. People will hopefully understand that we have been dealing with a range of major building programmes which have met the vast majority of their deadlines. This delay, while regrettable, will allow school staff to complete all the necessary checks and make sure that the new term at Gryffe gets off to a good start.”
