The opening of Fordbank primary marks the latest phase of Renfrewshire council’s £100 million PPP investment in schools.
Fordbank primary currently has 239 pupils and 30 staff led by head teacher Thomas McCormick.
The original Fordbank primary opened in 1966. The new school has been on the site previously occupied by the school's playing field.
The new Fordbank primary is a two storey building which contains eleven classrooms, three tutorial rooms, three specialist rooms, a study resource area, gymnasium and dining hall.
The school was officially opened by Renfrewshire council leader Derek Mackay.
Thomas McCormick, head teacher of Fordbank primary, said: "Everyone within our school has worked hard to make the transition from the old building to the new a positive experience. All of us enjoy working in a new environment and look forward to teaching pupils in the future."
David Broad, general manager of Renfrewshire Schools Partnership commented that: "Carillion Building is to be congratulated for the delivery of this project on time and to budget. Sustainability has been considered during design and construction to give a comfortable and energy efficient building. Materials form the old school have been retained on site as much as possible to avoid being taken to landfill sites. Designers with help from the Renfrewshire council have achieved a good environment for teaching and learning incorporating well thought out use of light and space. AMEY will maintain the school to high standards of cleanliness and provide catering to healthy eating standards required by parents."
