Paisley town centre is set to benefit from a share of a £700,000 funding boost for Renfrewshire.
Renfrewshire Council is spending the money on opening up streets to traffic in Paisley town centre, road improvements linking the town centre to the airport, and on environmental improvements in Johnstone town centre.
Another Renfrewshire project which is due to benefit from the new funding is the pumping station which will help safeguard Renfrew from flooding.
The £700,000 funding package has come from the Clyde Valley Community Planning Partnership, which is currently chaired by Renfrewshire Council leader Derek Mackay. The partnership includes eight local authorities, including Renfrewshire and Glasgow, and a range of public and private organisations which are particularly involved in promoting projects involving town centres and the Clyde Waterfront.
"We are delighted to have secured extra funding for Renfrewshire," said Councillor Mackay.
"The funding has to be used for capital investment on projects which deliver strategic benefits across the city region."
"We have come up with projects which, particularly through improving travel access, will deliver substantial transport and economic benefits for Renfrewshire and the wider area."
"Regenerating Renfrewshire, and our town centres in particular, is one of this council's highest priorities. We are making substantial progress on listening to business, increasing access to Paisley town centre, and looking at new proposals for more town centre parking. This additional money will help take forward that programme of regeneration."
