Councillor Mackay with shop owner Gillian Richardson
A successful independent shop is celebrating opening its new bigger premises in Paisley town centre.

Renfrewshire Council Leader Derek Mackay joined owner Gillian Richardson for the official opening of the new Chocolatz store on Causeyside Street and praised the shop's continuing support of Fairtrade.

Councillor Mackay, who is also Chair of Paisley Vision Board, said: "It is fantastic news for Paisley that Chocolatz is opening a new, bigger shop in the town. It is particularly encouraging in the current economic climate.

"Chocolatz is a strong supporter of the Renfrewshire Fairtrade campaign, stocking a wide range of Fairtrade products.

"The support of retailers, such as Gillian, played a major part in Renfrewshire achieving Fairtrade status earlier this year.

"It was my pleasure to open the new shop and I wish Gillian all the best for the future of Chocolatz."

Gillian Richardson opened the original Chocolatz store in Paisley High Street in October 2006. The new store is now open at 96 Causeyside Street, Paisley.

Gillian said: "Alongside our extensive fairtrade chocolate selection, we have a fantastic range of other delicious chocolates and confectionery. We look forward to welcoming our customers, old and new, to our new larger store."
