Strike action update: Please note that if your usual bin collection day fell on Wednesday 20 August, your bins will not be collected until your next scheduled collection day.
Households currently on rural two weekly collection services will have both domestic and recycling collections on Wednesday 27 August.
Original strike action press release issued on Tuesday 12 August:
As a result of industrial action by a number of trade unions on Wednesday 20 August 2008, delivery of council services will be disrupted on that day.
Anyone expecting to use, or scheduled to use, any council service on that day, is urged to directly contact the service or facility early next week for the latest position.
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: "Even at this stage we'd hope there could still be progress in a nationally-agreed pay settlement. If the strike does go ahead as scheduled on August 20, there will be disruption of council services and much reduced or no access to council facilities and offices."
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are making every effort to provide the highest level of service where possible."
"Council departments are already making every effort to contact regular or vulnerable clients in advance."
"All primary and secondary schools will be open.* Decisions regarding special schools and nurseries will be made early next week. Head teachers will be taking stock of the position in individual schools on Monday 18 August when staff return from holiday. Parents of all children will be informed of the situation in their establishment on Tuesday 19 August when term starts."
*Parents of pupils at two schools where major refurbishment works have been taking place have been notified in advance that the term will start slightly later. Pupils at Johnstone High School return on Friday 22 August and pupils at Castlehead High School return on Tuesday 26 August.
