A Paisley primary school is moving to a new home while its current building gets a £3million revamp.

St Charles Primary is moving from its current location in Rowan Street, Paisley, to the former Craigielea Primary building on Blackstoun Road, Ferguslie.

The 380 pupils will start there on Friday 25 April. The nursery class, which was based at St Charles Primary, is also on the move, to South Primary in Neilston Road, Paisley.

Marie Ward, acting head teacher of St Charles Primary School, said: "We've put a lot of work into preparing for the temporary move and keeping staff, parents and pupils up to date about what is happening."

"Over the next few months, our school will be given a major facelift and we are looking forward to going back to a modernised school."

"In the meantime, we've done all we can to be ready to settle into our temporary home for the rest of the year."

The £3m modernisation of St Charles is the latest stage of Renfrewshire Council's £263m investment in new and refurbished schools.

The modernisation of St Charles Primary will include two new classrooms, a remodelled nursery, remodelled roof, new heating system and upgraded entrance.

The phone number for St Charles Primary for the next few months will be 0141 889 5211. The phone number for the St Charles nursery will be 0141 840 2840.
