A safety-conscious six-year-old will have his design displayed on the walls of classrooms across Renfrewshire after winning Renfrewshire Council's road safety classroom calendar competition.
Cameron Watters, of St Paul's primary school, beat hundreds of pupils of all ages to have his road safety poster and slogan printed on the 2008 calendar.
Cameron Watters, of St Paul's primary school, beat hundreds of pupils of all ages to have his road safety poster and slogan printed on the 2008 calendar.
Pupils from all of Renfrewshire's schools were invited to design posters on the theme of road safety. The winners were then presented with their prizes by Councillor Marie McGurk, convener of the council's environment and infrastructure policy board, at a special awards ceremony in Paisley Town Hall.
Cameron was the overall winner with his poster and slogan: "Wait on the pavement".
As well as his poster being on the walls of every classroom in Renfrewshire, Cameron received a £50 prize and his school will hold the Road Safety Calendar Cup for one year.
The competition was open to all primary, secondary and special schools and entries were separated into six groups according to school years. From each group a gold, silver and bronze award-winner was chosen who also received their prizes at Paisley Town Hall.
Councillor McGurk said: "Cameron's poster and slogan 'wait on the pavement' really gets the message across. He should feel very proud that his poster will be up in schools across Renfrewshire for the whole year."
"This competition is an excellent way of getting young people to think about the very serious subject of road safety and the standard of entrants was very high."
