Renfrewshire's annual child protection conference at Paisley Town Hall (Wednesday 26 March) brought together representatives from various public and voluntary organisations who deal with child protection.
This year's event, entitled Improving Outcomes For Our Children, was attended by representatives from Renfrewshire's Child Protection Committee (RCPC) and staff across its partnership agencies including police officers, senior councillors, council officials, health experts and child protection specialists.
The conference set out Renfrewshire's vision for child protection as well as discussing important issues such as child exploitation, online protection, pregnancy and substance misuse.
The aims of the conference are to keep people up to date with national and local child protection issues, improve understanding of broader issues surrounding child protection and build partnership working.
Councillor Eileen McCartin, convener of Renfrewshire Council's community and family care policy board, said: "We have made huge improvements in terms of public awareness and staff training on child protection issues, however, we are committed to building on what we are already doing well."
"Every child in Renfrewshire should be able to reach their full potential and we must be able to recognise all situations where this is not happening as well as those where children are directly at risk."
"We must work together to keep children safe and that is what this conference is all about. It is everyone's job to make sure that children in Renfrewshire are protected."
