Renfrewshire Council's housing advice and homeless service has temporarily moved to Mirren Chambers, 41 Gauze Street (above Domino's Pizzas), Paisley, while its future home in Abercorn Street is being refurbished. It's expected that the service will move to its permanent home in late summer.
The housing advice and homeless service is the first point of contact for people who are homeless or who are in danger of becoming homeless. It also provides information and help on a range of subjects including:
- how to apply for a home with the council, a housing association or a private landlord
- tenants' and landlords' rights and responsibilities
- protection against harassment and illegal eviction by a private landlord, and
- specialist services such as Renfrewshire Women's Aid, the Renfrewshire Council on Alcohol, Paisley Threads (support for young tenants) and Advice Works (income and debt advice).
All the normal services are available at the temporary location. The housing advice and homeless service is open from 8.45am to 4.45pm on Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 3.55pm on Fridays and welcomes visitors in person.
People can also call the service during office hours on 0141 840 3308 or make emergency homeless enquiries outside office hours on 0800 811505 (free from landlines). They can also email the service on housingadvice.hps@renfrewshire.gov.uk
