Renfrewshire Council has scored another goal in its efforts to improve opportunities for young footballers in the area.
The council's community and family care board has approved an agreement with the Scottish Football Association to appoint a regional club development manager based in Renfrewshire.
This post is an addition to the regional development manager for the West of Scotland, employed in a partnership between the council and the SFA, who has been based in Renfrew for the past two years.
Having the club development manager based here will reinforce the SFA's decision to make Renfrewshire their west of Scotland regional hub.
Councillor Eileen McCartin, convener of the community and family care board, said: "This is a very welcome opportunity for us to continue developing our partnership with the SFA and promote youth football in Renfrewshire."
"Our Active Renfrewshire strategy and commitment to increasing opportunities and getting more young people playing sports fits well with the SFA's national development plan. This has strengthened our case for being the right place to base their club development manager."
The West of Scotland regional office is at King George V pavilion in Renfrew.
