A primary school project giving pupils an insight into the music industry has been praised in a report by education inspectors.
Bishopton Primary's Battle of the Bands project was highlighted in a very positive report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) following their inspection of the school in May.
The project, which saw all P7 pupils challenged to form a band and produce an album, album cover, video, merchandise and publicity, was recognised as an example of good practice to be shared with other schools.
The report also praised the school's effective inclusion of children with additional support needs in physical education as another example of good practice.
Of the five categories assessed, three were rated as very good and two as good.
Head teacher Gladys Crozier said: "We are all delighted with our very positive report and with the fact that HMIE recognised the very good quality of education provided by the school.
"The report recognises the energetic and enthusiastic staff along with our responsible and hard working children. We work very hard to ensure that we provide the best possible educational experience for all of our pupils."
Key strengths highlighted in the report were:
- Polite, enthusiastic and hard-working children who take responsibility for their own learning.
- Very wide range of out-of-class activities which enhance learners’ experiences.
- Challenges which are set for children to improve their performance.
- Enthusiastic and energetic staff who are keen to further improve learning and teaching.
- Shared leadership of the management team in improving learning and teaching.
"The staff and pupils can take pride in their achievements and can feel confident that they can continue to further develop and pursue future improvement."
