Provost Lawson and Johnnie Beattie with award winners
The winners of the 2011 Renfrewshire Provost's Community Awards have been named at a ceremony hosted by TV star Johnny Beattie.

The seven awards were handed out to honour caring, courageous and inspirational members of the community at the event held in the Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew.

The awards, now in their 13th year, celebrate those people in the community who have made special achievements and gone out of their way to make a difference to the lives of others.

This year's winners were:

Provost Lawson said: "The Provost's Community Awards are always a very special occasion and this year was no exception.

"It is a privilege for me to be able to host this event and pay tribute to the people who make such worthwhile contributions to our communities. Several of them have overcome significant personal difficulties and tragedies at the same time.

"I'd like to congratulate them all on their achievements and thank all of those who nominated."
