Renfrewshire House was officially opened by First Minister Alex Salmond on 5 February 2008, who enjoyed a tour of the new facility and the chance to meet with employees and customers and find out more about what the building has to offer.
"The development of these new headquarters, Renfrewshire House, has been designed around the needs of local taxpayers. The modern customer service centre and the joint working of council and health staff means better, simpler and more efficient services – benefiting the local community and the local economy."

Renfrewshire House is also a high-quality environment for employees and elected members to work in.
As the new home for local democracy, elected members will conduct council and policy board meetings in the new Council Chambers which are equipped with the latest facilities.

The building is also designed to be as energy-efficient as possible. It has modern, high-efficiency gas boilers; extensive draught-proofing; and hi-tech lighting controls that track sunlight and adjust internal light levels accordingly.
Renfrewshire House has been developed on the site of the previous council headquarters on Cotton Street, Paisley.
The site adjoining Renfrewshire House (formerly known as the North Building) will become a major new residential and retail development, and another important part of the ongoing town centre regeneration.

Employees in social work services are already benefitting from closer working arrangements with NHS staff, as the new building is also home to the Renfrewswhire Community Health Partnership (RCHP). RCHP was established in August 2006 and is dedicated to tackling poor health and improving the quality of life of Renfrewshire residents by bringing together council services, health services and voluntary organisations.
"All of us at Renfrewshire Community Health Partnership are delighted with the excellent facilities. We look forward to further developing our joint working for the benefit of the community we serve."
David Leese, director of Renfrewshire Community Health Partnership
