Volunteers needed to help with Social Work appeals

We are currently looking for volunteer members of the Social Work (Complaints Review) Appeals Panel.
Members give impartial consideration to complaints made by clients of the Social Work department, their carers or their representatives.
Appeals Panels consisting of three people are required to hold a hearing into the complaint and make recommendations to the council’s Community and Family Care Policy Board.
Anyone serving on the appeals panel requires knowledge of:
- social work matters, or
- the conduct of proceedings before a review body or tribunal.
Members of the panel should not be or have been in the one year prior to being appointed to the Appeals Panel:
- a member or official of any local authority
- a person who is a member of, or employed by, an organisation to which the Council have delegated any of their social work functions, or
- a spouse of any such member, officer or person.
