Renfrewshire Council’s Provost, Councillor Celia Lawson and Morrisons have teamed up to donate £500 to the St Vincent’s Hospice in Howwood.
Warm-hearted bosses at Renfrewshire’s newest Morrisons store donated the money to the Provost when she opened the firm’s Johnstone branch on 30 July 2007 and she nominated the hospice as the chosen charity to get the cash.
Councillor Lawson said, “St Vincent’s provides vital care and support when people need it most. It costs £5,000 a day to run the hospice and I’m happy that we can help out in this small way.”
Mr John Mooney of the St Vincent’s Hospice said, “I would like to thank Morrison's for their generosity and Provost Lawson for nominating St Vincent's Hospice as her chosen charity. It is donations like this which enable us to provide quality care to our patients and their families.”
Stephen Bannan, general manager of Morrisons’ Johnstone store said, “We are very supportive of any charity backed by the provost and happy to help the people of Renfrewshire.”
St Vincent’s Hospice provides care for patients of all religions or none. It’s open to everyone who has an illness that is going to limit their life and who needs special care to relieve their pain. The hospice looks after patients with a range of illnesses including cancer, motor neurone disease and other progressive conditions.
