Home > Services > Community and living > Community planning

The structure of the Renfrewshire Community Planning Partnership has been aligned with the five national priorities for Scotland: Wealthier and Fairer; Smarter; Healthier; Safer and Stronger; and Greener.

There are also three additional groups which have been specifically set up to consider children’s services, adult protection and drug and alcohol related issues.

Community Plan Leadership Group

The key strategic group of Renfrewshire Community Planning Partnership is the Community Plan Leadership Group.

The Leadership Group is chaired by the Leader of Renfrewshire Council and includes elected members, senior officers from key public sector agencies and participants from the Local Area Committees.

The Community Plan Leadership Group leads partnership working and monitors progress in delivery of both the Community Plan and the Single Outcome Agreement for Renfrewshire. The Community Plan Leadership Group is advised by an Executive Group of senior officers.

The Executive Group directs the work programmes of each of the working groups and reports to the Community Plan Leadership Group about issues that need to be addressed at senior management or political level.

Working groups

Eight working groups have been established and actively include elected members of Renfrewshire Council in order to ensure political involvement and accountability. The remit of each of the working groups is to identify through partnership working ways to achieve the headline targets and strategic priorities set out in the Community Plan.

Each working group consists of representatives from relevant partner agencies, with the participation of voluntary or community sector members. Each group prepares a detailed action plan for their area of responsibility, allowing them to plan and undertake actions to help us achieve our outcomes.

Local Area Committees

Renfrewshire Community Planning Partnership is accountable to residents through five Local Area Committees (LACs), which meet on a quarterly basis. Local Area Committees receive regular progress reports on the delivery of the objectives of the Community Plan and Single Outcome Agreement for Renfrewshire, tailored to each local area.

The LACs are designed to let you to see how services are operating in your community. They give you the chance to hear from the council and our community planning partners (such as Strathclyde Police, the NHS and the Fire and Rescue Service), so that you can make sure we're achieving the highest possible standard of service and that we continue to meet your needs and aspirations.

Importantly, the LACs also have budgets to fund local initiatives and support local projects which reflect the priorities and needs of local people.

The LACs are statutory committees of the council. Formal membership is restricted to councillors, which lets LACs take decisions such as making grants to local organisations without having to refer back to another council committee.

LACs meet on a quarterly basis, and cover the following areas:

You can view the agendas and minutes for meetings of the above LACs.

You can also read the latest annual report from each LAC:

We are keen to get more people involved in the LACs, and representatives from a range of local and voluntary organisations in each LAC area are invited to provide a wide cross-section of views and interests. There is also an open session at the end of each meeting to deal with issues raised by individual residents. You can raise an issue by writing to our director of finance and corporate services, or raise it at the meeting with the agreement of the chairman.
