University of the West of Scotland is running a number of information sessions next month which will give visitors the chance to find out more about its exciting part-time study options which get underway in September.
The University's part-time provision, co-ordinated by the Lifelong Learning Academy, offers access to a wide range of study areas including Business, Engineering and Science, Computing and IT, Languages, Creative Industries, post-registration Nursing, Social Sciences, Education, and introductory study.
The University's part-time modules can be taken on a standalone basis, to enable students to sample a new subject, or pick up a new skill, or they can be combined to work towards a University award up to postgraduate level.
The University is holding information sessions at:
- Ayr Campus - Thurs 2 Sep, 4.30pm - 6.30pm
- Dumfries Campus - Weds 8 Sep, 4pm - 7pm
- Hamilton Campus - Thurs 9 Sep, 4.30pm - 7.30pm
- Paisley Campus - Thurs 9 Sep, 4.30pm - 7.30pm
The University has a wide range of funding initiatives to help students meet the costs of study. One such initiative gives new first-time students the chance of free part-time study of one undergraduate module from across the University's provision. Students who earn £22,000 or less per year or are on benefits may be eligible for £200 towards the cost of studies under the Scottish Government's Individual Learning Account (ILA) Scotland scheme.
Funding for part-time postgraduate diploma study of a number of the University's postgraduate courses is available for eligible students through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) on a competitive basis.
Further information on any aspect of part-time study at UWS is available from University Direct, the University's information service, on 0800 027 1000 or email lifelonglearning@uws.ac.uk
