Social work provides services to:
- older people
- children in need of care and support
- people with learning or physical disabilities
- people who suffer from a mental health problem
- people with sensory impairment
- people with substance misuse problems
- offenders
- ex prisoners
- other vulnerable people in the community.
We also offer help and support to people who are caring for relatives or friends at home.
Social work has a duty to protect the welfare of children in need. This includes children and young people who:
- are at risk of harm or neglect
- are in trouble with the police
- have additional support needs
- are in our care
- are young carers
- have relationship difficulties with their family
We also offer home care services to help vulnerable people of all ages to live independently and securely in their own homes by providing personal and domestic care services.
We also offer day care services and for those who are unable to live independently we have care homes. Check the upper right hand menu for more information on these care homes and how to choose one.
In some instances we work in partnership or consultation with other organisations to provide services. One of these is the Renfrewshire Community Health Partnership.
The majority of these services are provided on the basis of an assessment of each individual's needs and preferences. Contact your local social work area team, whose details are in the lower right hand menu, for more information on how to arrange for an assessment.
In case of emergency outwith normal working hours, (evenings, weekends and public holidays) please phone Social Work Standby on 0800 811 505
