Renfrew location map Renfrew is an ancient burgh with a long and interesting history. The busy town centre boasts a range of shops, bars and places to eat. It also has a fine 1920s swimming pool and new, state-of-the art sports complex.
The town sits on the south bank of the River Clyde, close to the where the White and Black Carts join the main river. It has had a ferry across the Clyde for hundreds of years.
Renfrew's community museum tells the story of the town and its industries, including the former Renfrew Airport .
Braehead
One of Renfrew's latest additions is the major development to the east on the riverside at Braehead. The development includes plans for over 2,000 new homes. Braehead Shopping Centre boasts over 100 shops, a host of places to eat, a huge arena and a curling rink.

Getting here
If you are coming by car, Renfrew and Braehead are easily found from the M8. If travelling by train, change to one of the frequent buses for Renfrew at Paisley Gilmour Street Station. For more on travelling to Renfrewshire visit our Travel Information page.
