The focus of work on regeneration is on town centre renewal, area regeneration and environmental improvements in accordance with the Council’s priorities. The focus of town centre renewal has been on Paisley town centre where a renewal strategy was prepared in consultation with partners and subsequently implemented. A similar exercise is currently underway for Renfrew town centre.
Elsewhere area regeneration proposals for the overall renewal of specified areas are being taken forward. Area regeneration focuses on neighbourhoods or sites identified by the Council or through the Community Plan as being priorities for treatment. Examples include areas of extensive derelict land such as:
- Ferguslie Mills
- Anchor Mills
- Royal Ordnance Bishopton
- Renfrew Riverside
- areas for priority housing renewal where Area Development Frameworks have been prepared
