Parking and car parks
Home > Services > Transport and streets > Parking and car parks
Whether you are a resident or visitor to Renfrewshire, it's helpful to understand your parking options. On this page, you can find out more about:
- parking controls
- parking spaces
- on street parking tariffs
- off street parking tariffs, and
- locations maps of Renfrewshire parking facilities.
We create and manage traffic orders to keep our roads safe for everyone. These orders say where people can - and can't - park their vehicles. For example, we paint yellow lines and create loading areas for shops and commercial properties.
Parking spaces
Most of Renfrewshire's off-street car parking spaces are in Paisley, followed by Johnstone, Renfrew and Bridge of Weir. There is a charge for parking in the main car parks in Paisley town centre, including the Paisley Centre car park, which has 520 spaces; the Piazza, which has 365 spaces; and Arnotts, which has 266 spaces. Of the 2,800 spaces available in Paisley, 230 are on-street in the core town centre, with an additional 550 spaces in the peripheral streets.
In Paisley:
- Bicycle racks are also available throughout the pedestrian zone and motorcycle bays are located around the town centre.
- Shopmobility (wheelchair/scooter) for access to town centre facilities is also available free, please telephone 0141 889 0441 for further information.
- Metered parking controls ensure that town centre on street parking bays are not blocked all day. This encourages turnover of spaces freeing them to be used by many vehicles.
- Pay and Display tickets purchased within a particular zone are valid anywhere within that zone and not just the street from where the ticket has been purchased. Further information on zones can be viewed in the parking in Paisley leaflet below.
- Paisley town centre residents are also eligible for a resident's permit which allows them to park for free on street, near their home. For more information on residents' parking permits, click here.
