Site works started in 2004 and since then considerable progress has been made. Achievements include:

• The iconic Xscape leisure centre. The £70M complex offers a real snow slope, cinema, indoor bowling alley and speciality retail, creating up to 1,000 jobs and providing a significant boost for the Renfrewshire economy.
• The first phase of residential development at Ferry Village, to the west of the area. Housebuilders are currently on site throughout the riverside area, providing a range of house types and sizes.
• The 7 acre Clyde View Park and Riverside Walkway, a one mile long route along the south bank of the River Clyde.
• Riverside Braehead, the 33,000 sq ft first phase of a business park in the heart of the development site.
• Infrastructure works, including improvements in the capacity of the surrounding road network, Junction 26 of the M8 motorway and the widening of Kings Inch Road to four lanes, providing a bright, tree lined boulevard as the central spine of the development.
• Completion of pedestrian and road linkages to Renfrew, ensuring that the new development is fully integrated with the existing community.

Phase two of the development is now underway, with family housing under construction to the south of Kings Inch Road. Community uses are also being provided as part of the development with the recent completion of a new £18M Renfrew Health Centre at Ferry Road. Proposals for a new Police Station for the town, at Station Road, are also being progressed.
