Tenant consultation and involvement

Home > Services > Housing > Tenant consultation and involvement

Housing and property services aims to provide our tenants with opportunities to express their opinions on the services we provide in ways that will inform and enhance our planning for the future.

Tenants have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of areas relating to the housing service, ranging from influencing decisions on your home and immediate neighbourhood through to shaping department wide policies.

Why be involved?

You may want to get involved because you want to campaign for or against something or to create a better sense of community in the area where you live.

Being part of an organised tenants group will give you a greater voice when talking about local issues with housing and property services.

How can I get involved?

You may want to join an existing tenants' and residents' association, or put your name on our participation register.

The tenant consultation officer (TCO) will be able to tell you about your local group and how to get in touch with them. You may wish to start a new group if your area is not already represented. Our officer will be able to give you advice and support on how to do this.

Housing and property services recognise that joining a tenants group does not suit all tenants. We have therefore created a consultation register of actively-interested customers who have indicated that they would like to be consulted over issues that may affect them.

If you are a resident in one of Renfrewshire's high rise flats or sheltered housing complexes, you may also wish to consider becoming a member of one of our Quality Circles.

Other ways to stay informed

Council tenants can keep up to date with what's happening in their community by reading our tenants' newsletter, 'The People's News'. This is sent to all council tenants on a regular basis and includes articles about our performance, new initiatives, local interest stories and service messages.

We have also compiled a list of useful websites that you may want to visit.
