How to appeal

Home > Services > Council and Government > Council Tax > How to Appeal

You have the right to appeal against your bill or against the band your property is in. Remember that during your appeal, you must continue to pay the amounts indicated in your bill. If your appeal is successful, we’ll adjust your payments or give you a refund.

Council tax appeals
If you disagree with how we have calculated your bill, or if you think you’re not the person who is responsible for paying it, then contact us using the relevant link on this page.

Valuation band appeals
If you think your property has been put in the wrong valuation band, you must appeal to the Assessor, not the council.

Contact the Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board:

email assessor@renfrewshire-vjb.gov.uk
phone (0141) 842 5922
post to Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board, The Robertson Centre, 16 Glasgow Road, Paisley PA1 3QF.
