The Corporate Procurement Unit (CPU) works with all council services to develop contracts and procedures that deliver Best Value to the council.

Goods and services
The CPU manages contracts and tenders for a wide range of works, goods and services including:

• food
• care services
• vehicles
• information technology
• furniture
• maintenance contracts
• and many others.

The CPU also works closely with other local authorities through Scotland Excel to develop joint purchasing contracts.

Principles
The procurement principles of the CPU and Renfrewshire Council are:

• to procure by purchase, rental or lease the required quality and quantity of goods and/or services, including professional and consulting services in an efficient, timely and cost effective manner.
• to encourage open and fair competitive bidding for the acquisition of goods and services where practicable.
• to ensure ethical practices by all participants in the procurement process, including Council employees and suppliers.
