The standards of service that you can expect from trading standards are as follows:
- We will be polite and helpful and treat you fairly at all times.
- We will respect your confidentiality and dignity.
- We will deal with your enquiry quickly.
- We will answer the phone within five rings.
- If you phone us, the person who answers your call will give you their name and the name of their section.
- The person who answers the phone will deal with your enquiry if they can and if they can't, they will transfer you to someone who can.
- We will reply to written enquiries within 10 working days.
- We will tell you how long it will take us to deal with your enquiry if it is complicated and we need to investigate it further.
- We will make sure that all our written communications to you are clear and include a contact name and phone number.
- We will reply to you by email, fax or phone if you have asked us to.
- We will arrange to visit you at home if this is more appropriate than writing to you.
- We can send you written information in a variety of languages or formats, if you need us to.
- We will inspect business premises as often as appropriate depending on the level of risk to the consumer.
- We will respond to requests for advice from businesses within 14 days.
