How the toy library service works
The toy library is open to all adult library members who care for children. Parents, grandparents and carers can borrow from a variety of high quality toys which can help children to develop vital skills. Play is vital part of child development and the great thing is that children have fun doing it!

The toy library collection includes many well designed toys, games, puzzles and equipment and has:

• toys which can be borrowed regularly for a fixed period of time and changed for others when you want
• toys suitable for children with additional support needs
• trained and experienced staff who can provide reliable information, ideas and advice about play
• a bookbox service for playgroups and nurseries

Joining the toy library
If you are already a library member - it is simple just bring your library ticket along to any Renfrewshire library where a member of staff will help you use this free service
If you are not a member already you will need to bring identification with you when you come to the library:

• parents/ carers - recent utility bill and photo ID
• childminders - registration certificate
• nurseries and schools - letter on headed notepaper or evidence to show that you represent your establishment
• playgroups / parent and toddler groups , letter showing let or other evidence to show that you represent your establishment

Reserving, borrowing and returning items
The toy library service is based in Foxbar Library where you can see a selection of toys on display.

As we know that people who care for children are busy people, we want to make it even easier for you to use the service
so you can reserve, collect and return any items at any Renfrewshire Library.

How much you can borrow
The numbers of toys or games you can borrow and for how long you can keep them depends on whether you are a parent, childminder, nursery or playgroup

library user is:	can borrow	for period of
parent/ carer and member	1 item per child	4 weeks
childminder	8 items	6 weeks
nursery or playgroup	up to 20 items	6 weeks
nursery /playgroup using bookbox service	30 picture books	12 weeks
