Educational Psychology Service

The Educational Psychology Service aims to:

• help create conditions which enable children and young people to achieve their full potential, particularly where they are experiencing problems
• work together with parents, teachers, and other partners to prevent or overcome such problems.
• promote understanding and advancement of learning and teaching strategies by engaging in authority-wide strategies and innovations, and
• conduct research which meets rigorous quality and ethical standards.

Every school has a visiting named psychologist, and advice is also provided to children’s hearings, education management and partnership agencies. Educational psychologists in the service participate in a structured professional development programme.

The service publishes an Annual Standards and Quality Report and has an information pack which explains their aims and current operations.
