What is an SVQ?
An SVQ is a qualification relevant to a particular job such as construction, horticulture, motor vehicle maintenance, customer service, administration, childcare or housing. They are based on standards agreed by representatives from industry, education and commerce, known as Lead Bodies. SVQ's are certified by the relevant awarding body, for example Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) or City & Guilds.

- You may have just started a new job.
- You may have lots of experience in your current job but have no formal qualification.
