Volunteering with the Housebound Library Service
If you have some spare time and enjoy reading and talking to people, then you might like to become a volunteer with the Housebound Library Service. Volunteers work from their local library, visiting readers who can no longer get to the library themselves. Each volunteer is matched to one or two people whom they visit once a fortnight, taking them books or music CDs that they have chosen for them from the library.
Anyone can be a volunteer - all we ask is that you supply two references, including one from a former employer or professional person who knows you well. You can claim travelling expenses or mileage if you use your car.
If you would like to help, then contact your local library who will give you an application form.
