Our service
Our service is made up of:
- Home Link workers
- Home Link assistants
What we do
We all work together to help children achieve their educational potential by focusing on the 'whole child' and helping parents to get more involved in their child’s learning. Visiting parents at home is a big part of the work, helping to bring home and school closer together. Other work includes:
- issue based groups for children and parents
- promoting healthy lifestyles both inside and outside school
- easing the transition from primary to secondary school
How children get involved
Children generally get involved with the service through:
- extended support teams which operate in schools
- school health events
- parenting groups
- children and parents can also refer themselves to the service
- Home Link service staff, who can be involved if appropriate
In 2002, the delivery of integrated children’s services was a national Scottish Government priority. Renfrewshire Council’s Home Link service was developed in response to this and is considered innovative in its approach. By linking up schools, parents, children and other agencies such as social work and health services, and delivering to all schools across the authority, it ensures a consistent and holistic approach to developing links between home and school.
The service is divided into teams. More information on the teams and how to contact them is in the related content link on the right.
