Developing your coaching skills

Renfrewshire Council offers a wide variety of services to encourage and motivate children and young people to be involved in indoor and outdoor activity.
Our focus is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to keep healthy, have fun and gain social skills through physical activity and sport.
We are always looking for sports coaches and interested volunteers to deliver and support the extensive programme of activities that are offered in schools, community facilities and leisure centres. Coaching is recognised to be at the very heart of sports and it is essential that those delivering sports sessions are trained to a quality standard, we can help here by providing a series of courses that will:
- assist in the development of both coaches and community volunteers who wish to develop their coaching skills.
- improve your coaching qualifications and develop your skill in working with children and young people.
- give you the chance to join our sports team through coaching or sessional work.
Courses include:
- First Aid
- Inclusion for young people with Additional Support Needs
- NGB awards for gymnastics, rugby, netball, basketball and hockey
- Child Protection
- Sports UK - development workshops in coaching
- Introduction to leading sport activities
