Additional support for learning

The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 (revised 2009), often referred to as the ASL Act, introduced a new framework to provide support for children and young people who require additional help with their learning. The phrase 'additional support needs' is used to underline that any pupil can have additional needs at any time.
Why might a pupil have additional support needs?
