Joint boards and joint committees are public bodies set up to work for several councils at once. Their administrative arrangements are generally managed by a single council. Structure Plan Joint Committee - The West of Scotland Transport Partnership Joint Committee. This public body (WESTRANS) was disbanded in March 2006 and its functions passed to the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.

Renfrewshire Council is also responsible for administering the Renfrewshire Educational Trust which is a body consisting of governors drawn from the 3 constituent authorities of Renfrewshrie, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Councils and also religious and educational representatives.
