The councils in the Glasgow and the Clyde Valley area work jointly on structure planning matters. A structure plan team is managed by a joint committee of 16 councillors from eight participating councils as listed below:

The joint committee is responsible for the preparation, monitoring and review of the structure plan on behalf of the member councils The joint committee is supported by a steering group made up of the chief planning officers or their equivalent of each of the member councils together with the structure plan manager or his representative.
Meetings of the joint committee are held quarterly on a rotational basis at the offices of each of the constituent authorities.
