The most important piece of advice we can give at the moment is to make sure you are on the electoral register so that you can vote next May.
The electoral register is a list of everyone who is registered to vote.
Every year, there is a canvass to ensure that the electoral register is up-to-date. Often, thousands of residents fail to return their canvass form and their names are removed from the register.
Even if you pay Council Tax, you are not automatically registered to vote. And if you've moved house recently, you should check that you're registered to vote at your new address. Remember, no vote means no voice!
